Master of Health Administration
Excelle Degree Center
A Master of Health Administration is an advanced degree from a college or university awarded after a minimum number of academic units are completed. Most MHA programs also require a thesis paper and/or an extensive internship. A bachelor’s degree is a required prerequisite. The MHA typically takes two years to complete. Coursework includes classes in population health, economics, and healthcare marketing.
After completion, the recipient is adequately prepared to manage a hospital, clinic, or health system.
This degree requires general healthcare knowledge as well as a solid foundation in business administration. Many employers prefer candidates who hold MHA degrees. An MHA is also a great way to advance your career if you are already working in healthcare administration.
A health administrator with an MHA can make up to $105,200 per year, while a health administrator with a bachelor’s degree makes an average of $66,900 per year.
Many colleges and universities offer dual MHA/MBA programs, or MBA programs with an emphasis in Health Administration.
