Why Twitter? An Introductory Guide for Entrepreneurs
Ann Evanston | Excelle
I am confident that if you have heard of Twitter, you might have wondered: “What is the big deal anyway?” As many of my entrepreneurial followers know, I am a big fan of Web 2.0 and beyond for growing your business. Social networking has become a powerful way for solopreneurs to connect on a global business level. Twitter is a part of the social networking world and is growing faster than any site out there!
I am now addicted to Twitter! Let me share with you some reasons why you, as a small business owner, want to be an active Twitter user. I will then share some tips with you to help get you started.
Twitter provides many advantages for the entrepreneur in social networking.
1. It allows you to stay connected even while you’re away from your office; you can actually Twitter from your cell phone these days! And, there are services that allow you to set up your daily “tweets” and have them automatically sent out!
2. In terms of its ability to grow an opt-in list, Twitter is better than ezine or any other Web site. I have been able to grow a list of prospective customers faster than ever before, because of the visibility I get from participating on Twitter.
3. Twitter allows you to inform your followers about who you are and what you do, especially to those who might have NEVER found you otherwise! If you have a seminar, a Webinar, a blog update, or an article that you wrote, it is easy to let your followers know. My blog readership is up 100% in less than 90 days using Twitter!
4. You can learn from the best on Twitter. Based on who you choose to follow, you’ll have access to their teleseminars, Webinars, and blog posts as well.
5. Twitter increases your Google-ability. Let’s face it. Being able to find you on Google is important to your business. I know have over 1 million possible searches!
These are just a few smart “whys” to get involved with Twitter. Now let’s take some tips to understand the “hows” of getting started!
