15 Toughest Interview Questions (and Answers!)
Tania Khadder | Excelle
1. Why do you want to work in this industry?

Bad answer:
“I love to shop. Even as a kid, I spent hours flipping through catalogues.”
Don’t just say you like it. Anyone can do that. Focus instead on your history with that particular industry, and if you can, tell a success story.
Good answer:
“I’ve always loved shopping, but my interest in retail marketing really started when I worked at a neighborhood boutique. I knew our clothes were amazing, but that we weren’t marketing them properly. So I worked with management to come up with a marketing strategy that increased our sales by 25% in a year. It was great to be able to contribute positively to an industry I feel so passionate about, and to help promote a product I really believed in.”

Interesting.... I do believe the correct answers were so obvious that everyone should "ace" the interview who has any common sense. I will have to say that I like the specific wording of the correct answers and I will definitely use them.

This was a great article. Not only did it give you a list of questions, but also examples of bad answers (and why they were bad) and then an example of a good answer.

I shared the article with my students via the facebook link, as you suggest. I think it is a great article for graduating high school students, college graduates, and those who have been recently laid off. Many people are new to the job market, or have been out of the market for so long and need the "light." Can you create and share a video of examples of good and bad interviews? It would be great role-playing for students.
