15 Toughest Interview Questions (and Answers!)
Tania Khadder | Excelle

“I love to shop. Even as a kid, I spent hours flipping through catalogues.”
Don’t just say you like it. Anyone can do that. Focus instead on your history with that particular industry, and if you can, tell a success story.
Good answer:
“I’ve always loved shopping, but my interest in retail marketing really started when I worked at a neighborhood boutique. I knew our clothes were amazing, but that we weren’t marketing them properly. So I worked with management to come up with a marketing strategy that increased our sales by 25% in a year. It was great to be able to contribute positively to an industry I feel so passionate about, and to help promote a product I really believed in.”

This was great! I recently went through a stress interview with 3 women shooting questions at me. It was rough and I did not get the job, even though I felt ready for any question that they would ask me. In jobs where I do the interviewing, I always finish with "If you could be any animal what would it be?" I ask this question because some people show their aggression by answering wolf or loin, more peaceful people answer with dog or cat. One lady recently answered "a mustang, because they are free" In 7 years of interviews, that was a first! Great answer!

Hmm, I think describing an incident where you argued constantly with a co-worker for three months before taking action would not be a very positive example (#13).
