Franchising: Make Money and Grow Your Career
Jessica Cosgriff | Excelle
I knew since I was about five-years-old — when I wanted to play “office” instead of “house” with my sister — that I loved the idea of running my own business. Like many other women, I pursued my education, started a family and found myself quickly approaching the ceiling in the organization I was working in.
It was in my burnout phase that I started researching alternative work opportunities. The company I was most interested in working for didn’t have an office in my area. I spent several months humming, hawing ,and praying they would open an office until it hit me: why don’t I open my own franchise?
Why Franchising Might Be for You
Franchising allows you to build your own business without reinventing the wheel. Chances are, someone else has come up with the great business idea you have. Do some research and you may find that they’ve perfected a profitable system and developed a recognizable brand that you can tap into. When you buy into a franchise network, the legwork of creating databases, websites, brand elements, and legal foundations for businesses are all done for you.
Usually, you just pay your franchise fee and additional start-up costs, agree to the terms and conditions of the franchise agreement and you’re counting down to your first customer. In addition to the “busy work” being done, you gain the added benefit of a valuable support system.
