Mistake: Being Too Vague

Using generic industry terms and jobseeker catchphrases are not going to get anyone’s attention. Do you know how many times they’ve heard that someone has “great communication skills” or “works well in a fast-paced environment”? A lot.

The Solution: Share your top selling points.

Get specific. Where possible, use numbers and success metrics. Don’t just say you’re a great communicator — tell them about how your public speaking ability helped push the business forward when you went across the country giving presentations. And by the way, the same goes for your resume!
