Woman of the Week: Ellen S. Miller

Woman of the Week: Ellen S. Miller

Excelle

March 03, 2008

Name: Ellen S. Miller
Company Role: Marketing Specialist, Self-Employed.
Outreach Committee Member, Women in Film
Location: Chicago, Illnois

Excelle: What more can you tell us about the book you are working on?

Ellen S.Miller: I am an adoptee. I wrote a book with my co-author, Terri G. Scaletta, about the search for my birthparents. My story is one of intrigue, drama, greed, power, me being “taken” from the hospital, illegal adoptions, a charitable organization, Hollywood, a “stolen” trust fund and the underworld. We are looking for the right publisher at this time. I have obtained an award winning Hollywood screenwriter/producer, Chase Chenowith, to write the screenplay of my life story. We are looking for qualified, interested investor(s) at this time.

WC: Is this a new career choice for you, or have you been writing professionally for a long time?

EM: Years ago, I was trying to determine what the purpose of my life actually was and what I could contribute to society. The book and movie came about when I was being encouraged by a dear friend who thought my story must be told. It is everyone’s birthright to know their roots, heritage and medical history. Many adoptees do not always have this right. We intend for the book and movie to give people hope and encouragement to find their truths.

WC: 10 Years ago, would you have seen yourself ending up where you are now?

EM: No. I was living a very private life and did not intend to go public with my life story.

WC: What resources have been absolutely indispensible to you getting where you are today? Who has been there for you when you needed it most?

EM: I believe the greatest resources were the many people that I met along the way. My belief in prayer, the law of attraction and asking for the right people to come into my life were and are practices that I use daily. The people that have been there for me when I needed the most are two special birth mothers that I met when I was a member of Truth Seekers In Adoption(one was the President of the organization), my co-author, Terri and my Leadership & Anything Is Possible Coach, Theresa Maria Napa.

It was when I was introduced to a client of mine and became friends with Terri G. Scaletta, who became my co-author and co-producer, that I decided to go public with my story.

WC: What is your involvement with the ‘Women in Film’ Outreach Program?

EM: I am an active volunteer on the Outreach Committee for Women In Film Chicago.

My role is to obtain sponsorship from individuals, small businesses and large corporations outside the film community. You may refer to the sponsorship pages on our <a href= “http://www.wifchicago.org”>Website.

WC: How’s the landscape for professional women looking, in your opinion?

EM: In my opinion, I think this is a fascinating time for professional women. We are learning to truly empower, network with each other even when our fields of interest are not the same. This is happening on a one to one encounter as well as nationally and internationally.

WC: Do you have any advice for women who are just beginning their careers?

EM: My greatest advice I can give women who are just beginning their careers is to surround yourself with people of integrity and authenticity, be passionate about your work and stay focused on what you wish to achieve.

What’s one thing you regret not having accomplished thus far? Think you could make it happen in the future?

EM: I would like to own my own film production company with my co-author, co-producer, Terri G. Scaletta. I do think I will be able to make this happen in the future!

Ellen, thank you for sharing your story. Be encouraged to jump over every obstacle that may attempt to get you off course. Many will need to hear your story in their search and may it spread far beyond your wildest imagination. You Go girl!
