Excelle: You’ve been certified as a personal and professional coach since 2000. What’s changed in the coaching business since then? Did you ever imagine you’d continue to coach for 8+ years?

Theresa Maria Napa: When I first started coaching professionally, it wasn’t unusual for people to ask what sport I coached! Today in the vast world of technology and information, businesses and individuals hire coaches to produce better results. Typically my clients are seeking another way to reach an outcome that will bring them greater satisfaction. It isn’t good enough to just produce a result. They want more fulfillment in what they do. They want to be on track with their purpose and make a difference.

My passion for coaching is never ending. The happiness I get as my clients reach breakthroughs is immeasurable. Since I began coaching I have seen clients create from nothing, where they didn’t have a steady income, to getting contracts of $4,000 a week; or they were uncertain regarding what was the next chapter in their life and created an exciting future they never saw initially, but was within them.

WC: What is your preferred work environment? How do you keep organized?

TN: The beauty of my work is that it goes wherever I am – home office or on the road. I work globally by phone and my laptop computer. Some people believe there is a disadvantage in coaching via the telephone, but that is a myth. I listen at different levels to what is and what is not being said; I am totally present while on the phone with the client coaching them in broadening their awareness to their potential and possibilities. I also do on the site coaching, speaking, and have articles published on the Internet.

Much of my administrative work is done by one of the best virtual assistants, Brenda.

WC: Is <a href= “http://excelle.monster.com/news/534-best-cities-for-women-11-chicago-illinois”>Chicago your home town? What do you like about Chicago?

TN: Yes, Chicago is my home town. It is one of the most beautiful cities with a gorgeous lakefront. There is continuous growth, access to the best museums, musicals, plays, cultural events, great restaurants, shopping, forest preserves, walking trails, and more.

WC: What can you tell us about the Law of Attraction process you use in coaching?

TN: Coaching the Law of Attraction (LOA) opens the mind to the awareness to whereby you may deliberately access the Laws for the achievement of whatever is important to you. Most people can’t understand why they aren’t getting what they want; when in actuality they are attracting more of what they don’t want. There is a larger part of you that already knows what you want and coaching the LOA takes you that place.

The LOA concept is not new and has gained popularity to a new generation in 2006 when the movie “The Secret” came out. The author of “The Secret” acknowledges that her inspiration came from reading As a Man Thinketh by James Allen (1864 – 1912). LOA is one of the coaching models I use. Currently I am enrolled in a LOA certification program. Any member of Excelle who is in transition or ready to play a bigger game, I am offering a reduced coaching fee during the certification program. For more information email me at success@righttrackcoaching.com or visit <a href= “http://www.righttrackcoaching.com/”>Right Track Coaching. In the email mention that you are a Excelle member.

How did you meet <a href= “http://excelle.monster.com/careers/articles/735-woman-of-the-week-ellen-s-miller”>Ellen S. Miller, previous Woman of the Week?

TN: Ellen was introduced to me by my client, Michele Katz (<a href= “http://www.welshkatz.com/”>www.welshkatz.com) at a National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) fashion show several years ago. Ellen, Michele, and I were on various NAWBO committees. Michele and Ellen were also part of a group I coached. We were called The Ritzy Ladies and meet for breakfast at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago for over a year. Ellen is working with me in getting her movie “Enid – the Secret” off and running. I am on the Women in Film Chicago Board. Ellen is a member on my Outreach Committee. Michele is working with me in Client Development. The power of networking!!

What is your advice for women still seeking to become entrepreneurs?

TN: For every woman it is different due to desire, circumstances and/or finances. It may take a year and it may take several years. It is important to be clear that you are on the right track with what is next for you. Examine your beliefs to determine they are not counterproductive to your dream. In other words, you may want something, yet you believe you can’t do it. Make plans and take action. Be sure to have support. In taking on something new, it calls for new strategies and new habits. Resistance often rears its ugly head, so have support from a coach, mentor, friend, spiritual guide and any resource that reinforces the direction you desire to go. Listen to that still small voice that wants to be heard. Take manageable steps. This is your journey – your life – you choose!

WC: How do you spend your time when you’re not coaching?

TN: Friendship and meeting new friends is very important to me. Time spent with friends is going to the movies, opera, plays, shopping, and trying out new restaurants. I so enjoy getting hot stone massages at my favorite place in Chicago called Thousand Waves Spa. Reading for pleasure or listening to books on audio while walking is something I enjoy.

Do you see a career change on the horizon?

TN: Coaching, public speaking, and writing are my passion. I create my day. I do have a flexible-structured work schedule and live my life fully.

It's wonderful that Excelle has chosen to honor Teresa Maria as Woman of the Week. It was several years ago that she coached me in a special program. And I have never forgotten the experience or the warmth and love of Theresa Maria. Congratulations to T-M, BrendaC.
