But now, there are female astronauts, business executives, lawyers, doctors, and politicians – who not only work in these fields, but are compensated for their hard work fairly. Which fields are most lucrative, and why (besides a fat paycheck) should women consider them? Career experts Susan Wilson Solovic , Dr. Laurence Shatkin and Dr. Warren Farrell weigh in on the best-paying careers for women:
Careers in Sales Engineering

Besides money, why consider this career? Because women tend to be effective communicators, they’re well-qualified for these jobs.
Sales engineers work with companies’ production, engineering, or research and development departments, or with independent sales firms, to determine how products and services can be designed or modified for customers’ needs. These jobs, which require the background of an engineer and the qualities of a sales person, are an excellent fit for women, says Farrell, the California-based author of “Why Men Earn More: The Startling Truth Behind the Pay Gap-and What Women Can Do About It.” “Women tend to be better verbally. A lot of men who are scientists or engineers are not very good verbally. Women who select themselves to be engineers are successful,” he explains.

I am very pleased to see a positive outlook for women in the IT buisnesses. Considering I am currently attending Kaplan University for Applied Science in Computer Information Systems-Web Development!!!

IT field is really a booming job for womens right now. There are so many ways to working if you're on IT, offline and online as ColoradoMomma said above. :D Even you can create and establish values yourself. I wanted to mastering IT, but I still can't since I don't ready yet to colaborate study with career. Maybe later.

I agree that a career in medicine is one of the top paying jobs because there is always a demand for jobs in that field. I have a few people in my family that are in the medical field. When I was younger I wanted to become a pediatrician but as the years passed I became interested in Accounting and Information Systems and Income Taxes. I believe with my background I could also get a job in IT as well. I have my associate's in accounting and am currently working on my bachelors in business management and I also plan on getting my master's as well. Women can do anything they put their minds too! To all my strong, independant, hard-working women...the sky is the limit!!!

There are even more upsides to the IT field - particularly for women. It's easy to have a home-based IT business, particularly if you are doing consulting and/or contract work. In certain IT fields, ITSers can often work from home just as much as from the office. I myself am considering starting a home-based business in web design, and expect to be doing much of my work over the phone and through e-mail, with less face-to-face time with clients than in a typical office setting. I'll also be able to offer services nationally, while still being based out of my home. The IT field is also easier to access and get training in than perhaps even the medical field (particularly the school heavy doctor's degrees). There are numerous online degrees and certificates available, plus most community colleges offer online, evening, and weekend classes and seminars in IT areas and computer programs!
