25 Things a Professional Woman Should Never Wear

We hate to admit it, because we personally feel that clothes shouldn’t matter. In a perfect world, a person would be judged at their workplace based solely on the caliber of their work. Unfortunately, that’s not how the world works.
How you choose to dress each morning reflects how you feel about your job – that you take your position seriously, that you are ready to work and that you pay attention to detail and know what you expect to encounter that day. You wouldn’t go to a construction site in your favorite four-inch stilletos, right? Of course not, you’d go in a hard hat, because it’s appropriate for the situation. Appearances matter!
We’ve all been there, though. The days you wake up feeling sick, but still have to make it into the office, so you throw on any old thing that’s (kind of) clean. The office where you never see anyone but your hated boss and your frumpy coworkers. The jobs you work from home in your pajamas and no makeup.
Regardless of the excuses, there are some things that professionals should just never wear. Ever.
We’ll show you what these things are, why they’re a terrible wardrobe choice and if you’re guilty of having one in your closet – or (gasp!) in your daily rotation – we’ll give you a much better alternative.

Yeah, glad someone wrote this article. I'm appalled at how poorly dressed were have become in the work place and also in general. We have adopted this attitude that anything goes, well I for one do not agree. I plan to pass this article around. Kudos!

See some of these offenses all the time. GREAT article, love the humorous spin on it!
People complain that they don't get promoted or respect and but then still dress inappropriately. Dressing well with make up for women might sound like we are still in the dark ages...but its a must!!!

It's a sad commentary when you have to tell people they shouldn't wear flip flops to the office. In an office enviroment less is more, that traditional suit either skirt or pants says way more than the flashy outfits you see on TV. After ALL TV IS NOT REAL! Look professional and you will go so much farther. One other thing that goes a long way a great smile but don't over do the whiting no one wants you to use your teeth as a flash light.

Maybe it's the artist in me, but I think clothing and accessory style is the paint to our canvas (our bodies). It's a way we can express ourselves. That said, while I wouldn't wear certain "expressions" of my personality in the workplace, what we wear does reflect ourselves and our surroundings. So, as it is important to be passionate about what we work for, so should we dress reflecting that. Good article.
