Michael Jackson Dies
Source: TMZ
June 25, 2009
I recieved an e-mail from TMZ at 5:20 pm today that Michael Jackson is dead. I know as he grew older that there was a lot of controversial issues in his life, but I loved The Jackson Five as a preteen. This is shocks and saddens me. I still have a little white button with "I'll Be There" written in red letters. My church gave them out to the youth during the time this song was so popular. (I guess "there" meant in heaven.

Michael Jackson was an amazing performer, singer and songwriter. He tried to do the right thing in his mind, but to the outside world, it just didn't seem right. It seems that after Thriller his career and Michael started getting strange. I can't imagine what is was like to live his life. No one will ever know except him.
What I'm wondering about are all these so called "friends" of his that are coming out saying how much they loved him and what he meant to them. I wonder how many of those stars, singers and performers abandoned him when he was going through the tough times. I'm sure their agents and managers told them not to associate with him as it may ruin their careers. Now they all are coming out and want to share how he inspired them.

Michael was a very loving and caring person and he was a tortured soul. His father damaged him and his siblings and his mother had a part in it as well. I hope he has found peace and I hope the doctor that gave him the perscription drugs that killed him is bought to justice.

He was a very strange man and deeply disturbed. His era was long over. He was cute as part of the Jax 5 but that's about it.

Michael Jackson is living proof that money can't buy happiness. He was an incredible man, he deeply cared about the world and tried to help any way he could (Live Aid)He was one of the most talented performer but damaged. I have this feeling that Joe Jackson will never know what he did. It never ceases to amaze me how parents can screw up their kids. I hope Michael is finally in peace-he deserves it!

CNN is just slow. They were the last to verify the story. Highlighting why the "old guard" of news is struggling to keep up.
I saw a tweet the other day that said:
RT @webaddict: Dear CNN: Iran is on the verge of all-out civil war and tonight's special is on Jon & Kate + 8? (via @SharonHayes)
This is why I don't have cable or satellite tv.
As far as Michael is concerned, his whole story makes me sad, not just his passing. He had no childhood and ended up a very disturbed (and sometimes disturbing) man. Despite his personal life, I still like a lot of his music- especially the early stuff.

Now CNN is on the same page as TMZ and LA Times. . . 30 minutes later. I am sorry for stilling the thunder for a moment. He started at the age of 5, and was a star by 10. The Jackson 5 was one of if not the most popular group when I was a "little teenybopper." When any of their songs would come on my radio, my little heart would skip a beat. To me, their music was so good to dance to, and I can still remember in my mind's eye the label on my 45 rpm records. RIP Michael . . . your music made my teenage life fun to live.
