All very good suggestions. I'll have to try to incorporate some into my week. Especially the long bath and yoga.

Excellent list. I've done them all at times over the years without realizing they were relieving stress for me. Thanks for putting them all together.

I love that you include going to the shooting range. I just started shooting because my boyfriend is into it, but I had wanted to try before, I just hadn't really ever known what all was involved. It really is one of those instantly gratifying activities. And it's interesting to get into the hobby of guns as well, learning about different calibers and such, as well as getting into the history of some of the antiques. I guess most hobbies relieve stress.

I'd like to add one, a personal favorite of mine, writing! Creative writing is one of the most calming and therapeutic things I have ever tried. Perhaps it is because I come from a writing background, but none-the-less, I think anyone and everyone is capable of creative writing if they put their mind to it.

One of my fave de-stressors is to saddle a horse and just take a ride around the fields that surround our house and relax and not rush the ride, to just take my time. This is a great article.

I like the "turn to your funniest friend" bit, but I wonder: if you're the "funniest friend" who do YOU get to turn to when YOU need it?

Thanks for reminding us to take the time to rid ourselves from stress. Kick boxing is one of my favorites although I am completely exhausted and energized after a session. My childhood favorites are hiking and swimming, although I have to travel to do either now. So, I end every day with a comedy or humorous read. I'll look here to add to my antistress routine. Thanks!

I love this article. I do many of the things on this list, and didn't realize before that many of the activities I am drawn to focus on reducing stress. My husband and I go hiking and walking local trails with our dog on a regular basis. I usually hit a point somewhere on the trail where my mind and body say, "ahhh..." in unison. I even swing on the swings near my house on occasion, which is just as fun now as it was when I was a little girl. The one thing on my list that I would like to do more regularly is yoga. I love the idea of strengthening my body while relaxing and letting go mentally, and I feel so amazing afterwards. Thank you for this great article!
