Right Wing Women Rock?
Source: Calgary Sun
October 27, 2009
In the enclosed op/ed, Ian Robinson splashes out all the standard cliches attributed to "feminists": hairy legs, ugly clothes, and bad hygiene. But worse than that, it seems to paint a picture of right-wing women as vapid, shoe-obsessed breeders. You've got to see this awful article to believe it!

Oh wow, that article was made of complete fail and wrong, but it was hilarious in its own pathetic way. Thanks!

And no I am not saying "all women are sluts" that was just an example of some delusional thought processes that still remain in our world today. Actually the article is nothing more than a sad commentary on how some people still feel about others. The article is basically one giant cliche that I refuse to waste the energy in refuting.

This article reminds me of the old logic problems I always hated in school.... Jane is female and she is a slut, Karen is female so therefore she is a slut, end result, all females are sluts... narrow minded thought processes hurt everyone, be they from men or women.

To quote NixonAgnew on another article, it applies to this one as well in my opinion:
"Articles like this one completely detract from the credibility of the site itself. Quoting a book or not, it's all total rubbish. While I'm not among the population of the people jumping ship because of this, I can see why people would. The articles have gotten, frankly, less and less sensible or even worth glimpsing at over the last few weeks. I don't think the replies of outraged subscribers are that of insensitivity as much as they are of people who had expected a little more integrity and intellectualism from the site and the people writing for it."
Editor: Please take a deep breath and refocus. At one time, you really "rocked"

jforbes: You are right that we should be able to discuss controversial issues, but I do not feel that it is necessary to use this site to critique a "women bashing" article. We know it's out there. We know it continues to go on despite our dismay. What if I posted an article bashing someone of another race or an elderly person? Well, sexism is another form of discrimination, and I certainly don't want to see it here. It is distasteful, and should be pulled.

Though Mr. Robinson meant for this to be an article laced with satire, I fail to see the humor in it, and also read some of the comments in the Calgary Sun which were basically filth. It takes both wings to make up the political system, and though I consider myself as being an independent voter, I feel that I have some traits from both wings. "A thump on the head" goes to the author and all of his followers. I am sure his female ancestors are rolling in their graves.

Do you really not realize what you are doing or the feelings you are really feeding? Jeannedarc, your statements are contrite and extremely negative. You have no desire for unity and you choose to single out a person who spends time helping many. I am very happy, successful, and comfortable within myself. Most on this forum know this. I am not governed by your small remarks. I will continue to help others and not throw unnecessary daggers.
Blessings to you,

This is a really awful article about women! I think they take the bad example of women and start saying all women are like that. I disagree to that approach!

I agree with jforbes. changinglifestyles seems to think that the only way to have "unity" is to live in some delusional bubble. bad ideas are only harmful when you have no forum in which to respond. HELLO! the ideas are out there, at least this provides a place to discuss them. negative ideas will always exist. if you spend your whole life pretending they don't then you will never be happy or successful.

Yes, it is awful, which is why I think the editor posted it with the commentary that it feeds negative perceptions of women. So is critiquing anti-feminist articles off limits here? Can we only discuss things that are light and fun without looking at real issues? That's not the impression I got when I signed up!

This is an awful article! It feeds divisiveness. What is happening to this site? In the past, WomenCo, Excelle, whoever we were, believed in being positive and also in unity. I have always found this site to bring about positive thoughts at all times to enhance women. I have also found this site to bring about unity. This is a site that is to unify women. If we can unify ourselves as women, then we can bring about unity in the home, in the schools, in the community, in the city, in the state, in the nation, and perhaps one day in the world. I know this sounds idealistic. So what? It certainly will never be as we begin to breathe negative and divisive vibes into a perfectly good site. This is the second article with horrible contributions. Can this be stopped or who has hopped on this train without caring about the outcome? Hmmm...............
