I love New York!!! I was born and raised here. I moved to VA in 2000 and life just hasn't been the same. I compare the salary of an Admin Asst here in VA to being NY and there is a big difference.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I worked in Manhattan for 15 years as an Administrative Assistant/Secretary. My salary was wonderful and the transportation options that are available in New York are fabulous. Cost of living is equivalent to salary.
I moved to Boca Raton, Florida in 1996 and find that salary is lower than the cost of living. Also, if you don't have a car, forget about working for a living.

I am hoping to get a job for admin support or property managment once I graduate (5/23/08) But boy are the rents high even in nearby Brooklyn. But as far as wages they have better salaries than some areas in CT. Keeping my fingers crossed. NY is my favorite city !!!!
