Description:

Houston televangelist Joel Osteen is well qualified to write this book, having used the seven principles he shares to achieve his own "rags-to-riches" story. At the heart of Osteen's message is that achieving a successful, prosperous life of fulfillment can only occur when we stop worrying about the past or future to make the most of each present moment by using our God-given strengths and talents to achieve our goals. The key to doing so are the seven steps Osteen outlines: Enlarge Your Vision, Develop a Healthy Self-Image, Discover the Power of Your Thoughts and Words, Let go of the Past, Find Strength Through Adversity, Live to Give, and Choose to Be Happy. Mixing biblical teachings with his own personal experiences, Osteen explains each of these seven steps in an encouraging, optimistic manner that makes them accessible to anyone interested in principles of personal growth. Although written with a Christian slant, the seven steps Osteen shares will have value to anyone wanting to know more about practical steps of self-betterment, regardless of their denomination.--Larry Trivieri Jr.

This book is the most inspiring I have ever read. Reading this book changed my mind and my way of thinking. If there is going to be any possitive changes that will ever occur in your life the changing of your way of thinking in god's direction is how your going to make it happen along with prayer.

I am only half way through the book now and am absolutely loving it. I am taking my time to read it, covering only a few pages to one chapter in one sitting. I am writing my thoughts in a journal after each time I read. There is so much to learn and apply in your life. It is not preachy. It can be repetitive but only to drill in the concepts, which are deceptively simple. The power of thoughts, forgiveness, prayer, faith instead of worry. Very simple things. But Joel Osteen presents them in a way that is completely changing my life. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who would be open to improving themselves, their lives, their family and their future.

I absolutely loved this book. I would read a chapter a night before bed. The chapters are short enough to keep one's attention, but long enough to get the message across.

When I read this book, I loved it! After that I wanted to know all that I could about the Lakewood Church. As a result I read The Rise of Lakewood Church and Joel Osteen, which was also a pretty good book and talked a lot about Joel's father as a pastor and how Joel came to be one.
I would love to visit Texas just so I could experience the feeling that comes through in Joel's writing. It sounds like it is the most inspirational and motivating church ever.

I'm read this book last year, at a time when I thought God had forgotten about me. After being laid-off and not being able to find another job. But this book helped me to remember who my God is and He is always working it out. I was reminded of promises I already knew, but not had experienced. Enlarging my vision, the power of my thoughts and the choice I have of being discouraged or encouraged.
    I rate this a 5.

I believe that anything created in a non-denominational principle has that chance to reach a person. And help them to realize that they do count and to learn about how they can help themselves is the start of a new beginning for that person. Who knows they may become a writer of self-help themselves.
