I'm not one for romantic comedies or romantic comedies in the way they are usually churned out. Usually it's boy meets girl, hilarity and drama about differences ensue but it all works out and they live happily ever after. This movie from the very beginning actually has the narrator state, "This is a story about boy meets girl, but this is not a love story."

The main thing I love about this movie, besides the great acting displayed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, is how real it seems. This couple has their ups and downs and it doesn't necessarily give a typical happy ending. The characters are genuine and relateable. They learn from their relationship and even grow a little. Despite the hero and heroine not walking off into the sunset together, you leave the theater feeling entertained and even a little uplifted.
