Posted 10 months ago This is outrageous! Last September, this 22-year-old from San Diego had bids of $243k for her virginity. Now? Upwards of $3.7 million! Anyone find this offensive? What if this was your daughter? The article even says she "has a degree in Women's Studies [and] insisted she was not demeaning herself." Wow. Anyone want to pipe in about this? Editor | Excelle

| Posted 10 months ago Appalling. Degree in WOMEN'S STUDIES?! Does she have any notion of self-value, self-respect? Also doesn't this qualify, technically, as prostitution? |

| Posted 10 months ago This is so morally wrong. It's a cheap trick to garner money. I suspect the woman has low self esteem. How are her actions not "demeaning"? |

| Posted 10 months ago This is unbelievable! It is her body, and she is free to do what she wants. However, I wonder how she will feel about this years from now? I am not sure how her degree in Women's Studies has anything to do with it - you should know better whether you have a degree or not. It would seem that Dancing Queen is correct, this does seem to be prositution. Perhaps that is why she is going through the Bunny Ranch in Nevada...you only have so many places where prostitution is legal. | Posted 10 months ago When I first read the article, I started thinking "I gave mine away for free!, and she's getting 3.7M!!!" So after having a few laughs with myself , I could do nothing but feel sorry for this girl. Her reasoning was that she was trying to pay for her Masters. She got the idea from her sister that worked as a prostitute for 3 weeks and paid herself through college. First of all, who the heck would pay 3.7M for sex? Secondly, has she thought about the risk (ex: aids, pregnancy)? Thirdly, this is demeaning. Virginity is something that should be held in high value. A womans body is a gift, and you can't just give anyone a gift, and you certainly don't go around charging 3.7M dollars for a gift.

| Posted 10 months ago If she has a degree in Women´s Studies wouldnt she be sometype of hardcore feminist and completely against the idea of a woman selling her body??... Most feminists usually are!! On a second note, I really doubt that someone would be willing to pay over $3 milliom for her(sex)..The person who offered that amount I´m sure will later back out of the offer.. Also, I get the impression that the story(her) is completely BS. She probably isnt even a virgin. How is it gonna be proven that she really is?? I dont know if people have even thought of the possibility that she might be lying and isnt really a "virgin"...Besides, The person who is willing to pay money for her, even if its $5 should have her gynecology tested to see if she really is one..

| Posted 10 months ago Maybe she's trying to do a study for her "Women's Studies". I think it's creepy that a guy would pay that kind of money for sex. How hard up is the guy? What kind of message does it send to young girls? Sex should be about love, not money. June Sockol Fashion to Fit Your Style...AND Your Budget

| Posted 10 months ago I saw her on TV giving an interview with one of the bidders. An extremely old man, I mean 85+. It was too nauseating for me to watch though, so I couldn't tell you any more than that. It is unbelievable. |

| Posted 10 months ago My first thought was: 'Isn't this considered prostitution?'. I thought prostitution was illegal in most parts of the US - I'm wondering how the government allowed this auction to exist here. Poor girl - desperation usually gets one in trouble and causes the greatest regret in life. I would feel sorry for her if she didn't know what she was doing. As it is - I can only pray for her. |

| Posted 10 months ago I don't think she is in the US, because like a lot of you have said, prostitution is illegal. In the newspaper article, the 3.7M was a translation. I think the money was orginally in pounds. She said she's will to undergo a medical exam for anyone who believes she's lying. Ms. Antoinette M. After reading that, I thought "Hey, I gave mine away for free, too!" I guess that most of us do. This just proves that there are those "entrepreneurs" out there who are willing and able to sell just about any commodity. This girl isn't just selling her body, but due to a massive online "marketing" blitz it is apparent that she is selling even more. There are talks about books, movie deals, etc. (http://stupidcelebrities.net/2009/01/12/natalie-dylans-virginity-auction-up-to-25-million-photos/) She may have received her degree in Women's Studies, but she has mastered the art of self-promotion! It looks like she will be able to pay for her Master's degree and more when she is all finished. While "gogerl" is right that virginity is valuable, I have never thought of that value in terms of dollars (or euros, yen, etc). The value is intrinsic, and it is definitely not something most of us could quantify. This girl has determined that the best way to pay for education and provide for her future is to auction something that she has a limited supply of, and she is betting that there are enough men interested in her product to create a significant demand. Obviously, she is no fool, because every woman alive knows that the average male is interested in sex. Throw in the opportunity to take a young woman's virginity, and apparently there are plenty of men willing to pay high dollar. I don't feel sorry for "Natalie Dylan", nor do I think she will end up in years of therapy over this decision. While she may regret it on some level down the road, she is marketing the one thing she knows she has that can make her a lot of cash fast. Whether or not she ends up selling her virginity is probably secondary for her now, because the potential to make money off of book/movie/business deals is going to keep her stoking this fire to keep it hot. | Posted 10 months ago women have done this for centuries in many different cultures: from Roman, to Victorian area, to Japanese (Geisha & others), to Indian to African tribes, to Native American tribes, to Colonist/slave, to Quakers and the list goes on...and on and on...This is no new feat...but what is as Mimki says is that she has mastered the art of marketing herself...and there is a state in USA where prositution is legal, also... anyway, i thnk she is smart and a little flighty at the same time...but hey if she can get millions of dollars for something most give freely...I say more power to her... | Posted 10 months ago Like I said before--I think she is lying when she says she is a virgin. On a second note, She is obviously doing it to garner attenttion and publicity! Third and most important, the whole thing will probably wont even happen in the end. It has been going on since September and nothing has happened yet, and I doubt it will. |

| Posted 10 months ago This might sound strange, but if she loses her virginity like this making millions of dollars and sleeping with someone that she would never see again or someone that will not love her or respect her, wait ...this sounds like some of the men that I have known, and she has enough money to go to the college of her choice and have it paid for I say go for it. She will lose it anyway at some time and some people never have anything to show for it, except maybe a child or a disease. |

| Posted 10 months ago I found this to be sad. But even worse, and sadly, it is amazing how far people would go for sex especially sex for someone who is 'pure' or a 'virgin'. But hey, its her body, and she can do whatever she wants with it and if she makes alot of money because some idiot would pay to take away her virginity then go for it. Londa makes a good point, she is being honest in every way and I must agree 100% Who remembers their first time? |

| Posted 10 months ago Also, anyone know what the oldest profession is? The answer is Prostitution this is sad thing and it will never go away throughout history sex has been the downfall of man. Troy, Henry the 8th and dare I remind any of you the sacred right England passed on the Scottish nobles? For any weddings taken place the noble had the right to take the bride on her first night and take her maiden head. Making her first child by default a 'bastard' and her a whore discracing her in the eyes of the church. It was a way of performing 'genocide'. Sex sells, cars, clothes, drinks, and diets for crying out loud. We live in a world and in a society where to be sexy is being 'cool' being 'famous' and being 'in' is being sexy and the day that their are no more Play Boy Bunnies setting the bar for 'sexy' 'naughty' and 'dreamy' and who groomed people to think this way? When Hue Heffner is considered the perv he is instead of a 'hero' by men then maybe this way of thinking would end, but I doubt it. |

| Posted 10 months ago DancingQueen says ...
Prostitution...emm...could be. Sounds like she is desperate. I don't even want to get into this subject if this was my daughter. She would not do this. I am going to teach her beter than that. A woman's body should be treated like a temple. Not like some sperm bank or a toy for sale. |

| Posted 10 months ago I heard a joke recently that ties in to this subject pretty well... An elderly millionaire asks a very attractive young lady if she'd have sex with him if he gave her a million dollars. She thought for a minute and then agreed to do so. He takes her up to his penthouse apartment...and offers her $50. Outraged, she yells "what kind of girl do you think I am?! He smiles calmly and tells her "I believe that's already been established, now we're only negotiating over the price!" In all seriousness, I do find this a troubling story. It is her decision, and that is a lot of money...but I hope she reconsiders. |

| Posted 10 months ago This girl is clever! It could be that this is a study for her Thesis and the publicity alone will pay for her studies. But it is obvious that both her and her sister (the prostitiute) have very little self esteem. Even if she has no intention of following through with her offer, she has no quams about people thinking that she is a prostitue and knowing that her sister actually is one. These are things that no self-respecting woman would be a part of. I feel sorry for them as it is apparant that they have grown up in an enviornment where there were no really good women role models. Perhaps that is why this woman is studying to get her masters in Family and Marriage. Perhaps there was none for her growing up. A woman can be powerful and be empowered by their own feelings of accomplishment in what they think is important in life. If she does follow through I don't think she will even regret it as she has no sense of honor and morals.

| Posted 10 months ago Well, let's see what happens. She has not acted on these offers yet. I have faith in this girl - she seems to be smart. She brings attention to the fact that virgin-whore view of female sexuality is still very wide-spread and strong. I can see why she insists on suitors being intelligent. I would be interested to whether there is any correlation between intelligence and this archaic view of female sexuality, whether it's rational or subconcious. |

| Posted 10 months ago This is so morally wrong it's bewildering! She says she's going into family counseling? What a crock! If she has no morals, how is she to help others, especially women or young girls. Most people have to pay for their own education and work in an ethical manner. I personally paid for my own education, a degree in business. I had plenty of student loans and a grant, but still paid off my college myself without degrading myself or women. It took me just over 9 years, but I can be proud to say I did it the moral way and can be an example to my children and family. Get over yourself and suck it up. |

| Posted 10 months ago Yes! this is outrageous. More importantly.... it's sad. She is not only giving this profession a bad name, but, the fact that she can't even identify her own issues means that regardless of how many degrees she buys with the sale of her virginity, she is not qualified to give counsel on any level. I have spent most of my adult life in the counseling women profession. Her behavior is in direct conflict with the oath of a counselor. She is not taking her choice of career, her education, or herself very seriously. This whole situation including the fact that so many men are willing to pay so much for a "virgin" is everything that's wrong with this world. I do think this woman is enjoying the publicity and will earn a certain amount of money off of the exploitation of herself. However, this does not make her cleaver or smart. It merely confirms her issues. Most women who choose this path are not "virgins" at all. In fact they have been sexually abused as children. This is merely a symptom of a deeper issue. The fact that her sister is a prostitute speaks volumes. No child says they want to be a drug addict when they grow up -and no child says they want to be a prostitute either. If you are this girl we are speaking of, I hope that through your education you will come to terms with what is really going on with you. I hope that someone will help you and your sister see your true potential. |
When I first heard the story I was shocked but after sleeping on it I've had some different ideas about this actually. When a guy sleeps with a lot of girls he is a stud and when a girl sleeps with a lot of guys she is a whore. Having a 16 year old daughter myself, teenagers today do not think a lot about giving away their virginity. However, as I've told my daughter, once you give away your virginity, it is one of those things you can't get back. Most women don't wait to get married anymore to have their first sexual experience either. (Got to try the merchandise on first - so to speak.) So in reality, and all judgement aside, doesn't this renew our thinking about how valuable a woman's or a man's virginity can actually be? Has it really changed that a guy would prefer to spend his life with a girl who has not given it away to every Tom, Dick and Harry? With domestic violence at an all time high, doesn't it give women and the soon-to-be women an opportunity to rethink and reassess who they are and who they want to be? If this girl accomplishes her goal of being financially free at the cost of her priceless virginity, who are we are to determine the morality of her actions? It is a price many of us currently pay for our independence in today's world anyway. Isn't it? Anger at stuff like this is a catalyst for change in my book. And let's not forget about the movie 40 year old virgin as the male perspective here! If it makes a better world for the men and women after us then let's not judge each other - let's discuss other avenues to make all of our lives better. If we tarnish our reputations, compromise our dignity or sacrifice our self-esteems, it is difficult to get back - but we can. Virginity, on the other hand, male or female, there is no going back-no matter how we give it or how it is taken away from us. Definitely something to think about.
