Even though I know I could save a bundle by not buying a cup of coffee every day, I still do. It's my morning treat to get me going & to increase my productivity (Trust me, ladies! Excelle needs me running on coffee!). Plus, on the weekends, I love walking down the street to my local cafe, sitting with a mug of tea or a latte, people-watching & writing. It'd be terribly difficult to give that up.

What about you? Would you skip a meal to get a mani-pedi? Does your Netflix queue matter more than your savings account? Are some things worth it just so you can treat yourself? Tell us about your recession-proof indulgences!

Guilty as charged!

I can have 10 bucks in my bank account but I will always manage to get my nails done as well as my eyebrows waxed and hair blown out every week. It sounds self absorbed I am sure, but the fact of the matter is, when my hair is done I feel incredible. I feel confident. I am putting my best foot forward. I can't see giving that up at all.

I would give up buying meat before I would stop eating fresh produce. My splurges include fresh strawberries and blueberries every week. Lately, both are on sale.

Still have not given up my beer although I have cut down on the amount I drink and will occasionally buy a cheaper brand.  Also still have not given up my cigarettes, although unhealthy, but I have cut down, use coupons and am using Chantrix to help me quit.  I will not give up bowling because I need an outlet, but I have limited the amount I spend on the pots.  Next season I think I'll only bowl in one league as opposed to two, unless my circumstances change.

Chantrix is good. My husband is on that now and it's been three weeks and he hasn't killed anyone yet. In my book it's a miracle! Good luck with it, let us know how it goes.

I spent about $300 to get licensed and start building my business over at World Financial Group.  WIth this splurge, I am going to be able to make 100-250K this year.  If you want to make the same splurge, message me!  It was the greatest, recession-proof splurge that I've made!

I'm sticking with my internet. You can cut out my Blockbust movies and coffee, but my internet is my way to get away from life once and a while.

I think as women, we need to pamper ourselves a little more.  When we are truly loving to ourselves, it flows outward.  Pamper yourself without judgement.  It doesn't matter what "others" think about what your, "recession-proof splurges" are, if they are truly what you need and want, that's all that is important.

We won't give up going out for breakfast on Sundays.  It is a favorite treat for my family, and no recession will keep us from enjoying it.

I'll keep buying fresh, organic produce and paying for the yoga classes I love. It's recession-proof because these things will keep me healthy and save money indirectly.

Well, my favorite indulgence is my coffee and Feeney's Irish Cream Liqueur.  I like it better than Bailey's, and it gives my coffee a smooth soothing taste. ( I brew my coffee at home, and put it in my favorite mug.)

I would have said coffee but as of almost exactly a year ago I had to give it up.  The caffeine was giving me migraines and causing the muscles in my arms and legs to swell most painfully.  For now my recession proof splurges are junk food (McDonalds, chocolate, Little Debie and Hostess Cakes), I'm not giving them up EVER.

I will not give up my trips to Illinois!!  I know it's a splurge with gas being as high as it is, but Illinois keeps me sane!!!!  I travel back and forth 3 or 4 times a year and will continue to do so until I can move back and be with my family all the time!!!!  I have lived in Texas for 28 years and completely lost contact with my family in Illinois!  I will never let that happen again!!!!!

I think it's a good idea during hard  times in general to still do something nice for yourself.  I just recently saw one of my FAVORITE movies at a really good deal at FYE so recently bought it for $12.  A lot of places I would assume are now having good deals like that.  I also like to buy my favorite magazine's or maybe a good book.  Store's like Walgreen's is good to go and stock up on makeup.  Nothing is better than feeling goo about yourself even if it's just your image.  I try to look for good deals wherever I go.  :)

I have a standing Hair Appt with Hair Stylist every 2 weeks.  I'm sorry, I refuse to do my own hair.  it's so healthy and I need a professional touch.  When I get paid, I automatically take it out for the hair stylist. When my hair is done, I feel a lot better about myself!

Regardless of the recession we're experiencing I've still managed to budget my monthly pamperings. I get a pedicure once a month, massage therapy once a month, I have french acrylic nails; and so about twice a month I get them filled or a new set when necessary. Every 3-6 months I'll get a haircut or trim, and my boyfriend occasionally will treat me to the spa or getting my hair colored or highlighted. I wouldn't say I'm high-maintenance, I mean I make my own money and I take care of myself.

Occasionally I'll stop at Starbucks in the morning for my usual Venti Passion Tea Lemonade, or Venti Caramel Frapuccino w/ a shot of espresso.

There's nothing wrong with pampering yourself, as long as you know you can afford to. =) I work too hard not to.

I have stopped smoking, high fat food, eat more fiber, fruit, drink more water, no bacon, sausage, eggs, hot dogs and my splurge is good ice cream

My Aveda hair products. I know I am literally throwing money down the drain. I am sure I could find products that work similarly for 1/3 the price. But I am hooked on Aveda. I buy the liter sized shampoos and conditioners when there are good "extras" online. And it hurts whenever I hit the purchase button. But I just have to do it.

Another splurge that is recession proof is outdoor plants. It is unnecessary and I don't care. But I need to see color along my sidewalk as I walk up to my house. I want to see a big pot on the steps full of flowers. When I look out my kitchen window, I have a hanging pot that birds always find and nest in. My little patio would be a drab, boring concrete slab all summer if I did not plant flowers in the spring.

I will not give up my semi weekly lunches with my girlfriends. Movies, dinner out, drinks, purse shopping (my greatest self indulgence) can all go away tomorrow, but not my lunches. I live for those two days a month. It's a way to reconnect and just have a great time.

Books and magazines are my gulity pleasure of the week, I stick to reads that have to do with pressing matters I need to read up on. When the checkbook has to be balanced, I see more purchases for books and magazines that daily needs.

I suppose that I have a few indulges.  I try really hard to make coffee at home but no matter what kind I purchase, if I grind fresh beans, use half & half, syrups or sugars, etc it's just not the same as a latte, mocha, or machiatto!  I also have french acryllics that I get done 1-2x per month & absollutely must have my internet (especially so I can keep applying for all of these jobs that aren't contacting me back! lol)  We have to keep some sort of sanity, we all deserve it!  I sure do miss all of the pricy things I used to do with my children (skiing, water sports, etc) & going out for margarita mondays though...............

Candles. Each day here I've lit a nice smelling candle. They just brighten up the house a little, improve my mood a bit, and I have a ton of them stored away. So, they are costing me nothing.
