Posted about 5 years ago Yes i said it, i have 8 children and want to work at home without having to pay for it! I always see different things on the internet, post litlle ads, make a payment to get started. BUT! they cost money that i don't have. Because my family size is rather large, i would rather not have to be on the phone, (too much noise in the background)! lol. But something more like data entry, or processing customer information into a company's system or being the one that montior's a chat room. SOMETHING!! If anyone knows where i can start please help me out. |

| Posted about 5 years ago tasha, have you thought about becoming a virtual assistant? Or how about research for companies and small business owners like myself? Ann M. Evanston, MA CEO Zena Enterprises

| Posted about 5 years ago Ann, could you expand on what being a virtual assistant involves? That might help Tasha. Also, how realistic is it to expect a good-paying, steady job without ever leaving the home, be it for training or work? |

| Posted about 5 years ago I think you can do transcription work from home too. The virtual assistant thing tha Ann mentioned sounds awesome, maybe you can check into that. You can also do medical billing from home, a lot of Dr's. do not do their own billing. Good luck with raising 8 kids too, that's several jobs in and of itself. |

Also, how realistic is it to expect a good-paying, steady job without ever leaving the home, be it for training or work? More and more small business owners need support to be able to focus on growing their business. As a matter of fact, Michael Gerber of the E-Myth recommends that entrepreneurs get a support person sooner rather than later. An assistant is the traditional model of showing up at an office and handling all things an assistant may. "Virtual" just means doing it from your home versus coming into an office. What are things VA's can do? answer email, set appointments, run QuickBooks, develop spreadsheets, data mine, proofread, write letters, proposals, call clients, set up auto responders, graphics, oh there is so much more!
The goal of having a VA is to take on work that keeps the entrepreneur from doing what makes the money in the business, but is necessary to succeed!

| Posted about 5 years ago Tasha, A few weeks ago the Today show did a segment on legitimate work at home opportunities, and Jean Chatzky recommended companies in different industries. That may be a good starting place. Here is the link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/24614753#24614753. The segment starts around 4:15. Of course I am biased to virtual assistance, being the founder of Assistant Match. I agree that a person can have steady work as a virtual assistant, and that the keys are being clear in your skills, staying up to date with how to work virtually, and networking to find clients. I’m also a big fan of education to jump start any career, and virtual assistance is no different. Learn from people who have experienced success and failure, and build your business from some of their lessons and best practices. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago The websites that she lists in the video are as follows: Mystery Shopping: www.nationalshoppingservice.com Tutoring: www.esylvan.com, www.tutor.com Transcription: www.cyberdictate.com Virtual Assistants: www.assistantmatch.com, www.officedetails.com
I haven't checked out any of these sites yet, but wanted to put them here for people. I do recommend listening to the video, however, especially if you are worried about retirement, saving money to retire, and Roth IRA vs SEP IRA vs Individual 401(K), etc. |

| Posted about 2 years ago Tasha, there are lots of freelane home-based jobs posted in outsourcing sites like odesk and freelancer. You can bid at them but make sure you bid reasonable price since there are also competitors. Just be patient since first jobs are quite hard to find because of the fierce competition. Goodluck and have fun! |

| Posted over 1 year ago When looking for a job online you must avoid the programs that asks for payment. Deal with sites that offers a free sign up like oDesk. You will find lots of data entry jobs there. Just make sure you write a good cover letter to attract the employers. Apply on hourly jobs only as its the one with guaranteed payment. Don't know which career path to go?
