There are a lot of coaching programs.  Just research on the internet and find one that meets with your standards and passions.  I went to CTA- Coach Training Alliance and was briefly in Fearless Living Institute.

Congrats on handing in your resingnation.

Good luck with your new journey.

Thanks heaps for the prompt response. I have done a bit of research in addition to becoming a member of the ICF here in the UK. Found a few interesting organisations 'Barefoot ',amongst many. They run a Post Graduate course. I want to start off with personal coaching then gradually pick up modules in style coaching and career coaching.

What is it like for you being a coach and do you mind sharing the joys and what prompted you into becoming one. Was it a career change.  Will be nice to keep in touch.

Once again, thank you.

Congrats on your decision on becoming a life coach!  I see you are in the U.K. and I have heard that Life Coaches are booming there, U.S is starting to pick up on it a little, but it's still fairly new to some.  I would suggest to do some pro-bono work first and then really market your practice.  Certification doesn't mean a thing until you get some paying clients under your belt.  There are many cheap ways to get business cards and pass out a couple of fliers to friends, ex-coworkers, and then there you go!

It is also great to get some literature on life coaching, so you can know how to market and coach your clients effectively.  I am so excited for you!!!

I started out thinking Life Coaching was for me and then I decided to help others with career development and college planning and became a Career & Educational Coach.  Just keep going at it and soon enough the clients will come!  Keep us updated on your progress!

This caught my eye, because it's an avenue I am considering.  I currently work full-time, though, and my husband is on disability, so anything I do will need to be in conjunction with my full-time job as a hospice chaplain.  Right now, I starting to explore training opportunities for life coaching or becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).  Any input on the cost, time commitment and length of training programs for being a life coach would be great!  Thanks for starting this thread Deorike, and I would love to compare notes as we both explore this.

Let's go for it Chaplain. By the way, what is your name, mine is Deorike. I live in Northampton in the United Kingdom.

Training cost I  have found so far, start from a thousand to 4000 pounds. I have registered with the ICF, one of the regulating bodies. This afternoon, I put a down payment down with a training organisation in London that is regulated by ILM the Institute of Leadership & Management  the UK's premier management organisation.

Looking froward to swapping notes on progress.

 Deorike,

I'm Tamara.  Sorry it took me awhile to reply--I've been swamped lately.  I live in St. Louis, MO, and have started networking a bit with counselors in this area.  I am considering a graduate program at University of MIssouri for an LPC as probably my strongest option right now.  I have two major obstacles: time and money(what else is new?)  My next step is to begin researching scholarships and grants (I am anti-loan; maybe that's a personal flaw or a virtue, but regardless, I'm anti-loan).  I am also currently working on ordination in my denomination, so I am setting a tentative date to start training as Fall '10, and plan to get my research and decision-making done in the next year.  Keep me posted on your progress!

Hi everyone,

Just read the posting and congrats on making the MOVE!!

I'm training with Results Systems to get my ICF accreditation. There's a lot of work involved but it's rewarding. Two goods things for me is that many of the classes are teleclasses in the evening so generally convenient and also they offer an installment plan to pay the fees!  There's quite alot of support from the network too and the training prepares you for life coaching, business coaching - whatever.  It's worth a call to the organiser to see if it's the one foryou!

Best of luck with everything!!

Hi everyone, and Deorike, congratulations on realizing your dream!!!

I have been considering moving into life coaching - here, in Ukraine, it's an almost untapped niche while the need for it is just overwhelming. Is here anyone who started from the scratch, so to say? Where would you suggest for me to start from (please note that AFAIK there are no life coaching courses in this country)?

Thank you!

Sounds like an interesting career I could definitely use a life coach at this juncture in my life.

Dear Konigen, thanks a whole heap for your message. I am so sorry for the late response as I haven't been on for a while. I started from the scratch so to speak even though I have been inspiring and motivating friends and family for years.

Start researching online, there are a lot of courses here in England even though my profile now gives the impression that  I live in the States until the website is sorted.

Will email the institute I did my training with here in England and find out what options you have in Ukraine for training.

It is a satisfying and rewarding career. Take care and keep in touch.

Love,

Deorike.
