Hi Ladies of Excelle-

I am working on a small medium business project. If you are a small medium business owner, I was wondering if you could take a moment to answer a couple questions:

1. What’s the best thing about being a small business owner?

2. What are your top three challenges as a small business owner?

3. When you search for advice for your business online, what are you typically looking for and where do you go?

Thanks so much in advance!!!

Best~ I LOVE MY BOSS and the time she spends with child now after horrible high conflict divorce.

Niche marketing consulting looking to expand through i-net research and trend analysis. My motto "Research, Identify, Solve. Take, but give back twice as much.

No leads, tons of divorce meetings means no income! S'okay. I got my modification band aid on!

1. What’s the best thing about being a small business owner? I like my boss.  She's pretty cool.  I can do what I choose and turn the rest down.  I am able to make my own hours and enable myself the freedom to handle all the home issues as well.

 2. What are your top three challenges as a small business owner?  Finding customers.  Marketing, knowing what to charge, knowing when to say no.

3. When you search for advice for your business online, what are you typically looking for and where do you go?

I usually look online to those career forums.  I also look under networking sites like Excelle to assist me with tips and tricks that will help me to make better decisions.  I look for those things that will give me tiny tips on how to consult, how to be a customer service rep when the customer is agitated, that kind of thing.

1. What’s the best thing about being a small business owner?

The best thing for me about being a small business owner is that I set my own hours and I work when I want to.  This is key for women who are raising a family or maybe even going to school alongside or working.  I get the flexibility of working for myself, and also get to do the things that I love outside of work.

2. What are your top three challenges as a small business owner?

The first challenge is that you are in charge of EVERYTHING!  I'm in charge of all of the "departments" for my business including: accounting, marketing, advertising, sales, administrative, inventory, scheduling....you get the picture!  So you have to be VERY organized!  The second challenge is that I have a small team of women that I work with and helping motivate them on days when I may not be so motivated!  Finally, staying true to myself and my business so that people don't take advantage of my good nature!

3. When you search for advice for your business online, what are you typically looking for and where do you go?

I generally look for books that I can read that I can refer back to when needed.  I'm a fan of Karen Phelps who is a direct sales speaker who really knows her stuff.  I also subscribe to many e-zines where I can get some great information to keep me up to date with the latest trends in the industry.

1. What’s the best thing about being a small business owner?

I enjoy creating my own schedule.  The flexibility has allowed me to take college courses, work full time and still manage to have a social life.   I also really like my boss... because it's me!

2. What are your top three challenges as a small business owner?

1.  Finding new leads    2.  Building customer loyalty   3.  Staying super organized

3. When you search for advice for your business online, what are you typically looking for and where do you go?

I am looking for new insightful information of ways to captivate my new customers and renew the interest in my current and "older" customers.  I look for fresh information and presentation styles.  I look for organizational tips and reminders on how to keep things simple.  It is very easy to go overboard and talk yourself into buying everything under the sun for your business.  A lot of that stuff isn't necessary to stay afloat in the business at all... just little extra frills.
