Posted 4 months ago I posted this topic under another forum 3 months ago but it wasn't getting any respones
I was reading a few articles about the things women are now doing for money that they wouldn't have done in the past (ie. stripping, porn, etc..) and realized that I'm one of them. I never gave donating my eggs a thought, believing that it would be somewhere a long the lines of giving up your children for adoption, but as this economy continues to go further into the hole and more jobs are lost, getting $8,000 - $10,000 (depending on what state you live in) for eggs doesn't seem so bad and its tax free. I've done the research on certain egg donating companies and it's a safe procedure but would it cause me emotional stress knowing that out there somewhere is the child I always wanted and don't have or would it mean absolutely nothing but money to me? I would like to hear other women's thoughts and opinions on the subject but especially those who have done it and what their emotional point of view is.

Posted 4 months ago I haven't done it, but I decided to answer since no one else has bothered to it. The money seems good, but I think it would bother me knowing there was a biological child out there that I wasn't raising. I definitely know that my husband would be against it. However, if I was in major debt, couldn't get help, and was going to be homeless soon, I would consider it.

Posted 4 months ago Ok, now this is a thought provoking question, and I'm still thinking as I write. I think for myself the whole process would have some "depends on". I think (not positive here) that I would not have any emotional issues with it, if, I knew where the eggs were going. I am not big on the idea of the egg pool, where anyone can basically apply for and receive the eggs. I feel like it would have to be indivualized. Tell me about the couple, or woman if single who was going to be raising the child. I do feel that a child is a child from the moment of fertilization, but would that mean it was "my" child? not really, The woman who carries the child, nourishes it with her life's blood is the mother. For later generations, there does have to be very strict guidelines, along with total honesty and openness with the child as they become of age for child bearing, I mean there is the possibility of in-breeding to be blunt, it would be a rarity but still a possibility. Would donating eggs for money be with-in the realm of possibility for me, were it actually physically possible (it's not). It would require a lot of thought and prayer. But is it something that I might have done? probably if the circumstances were right.

Posted 25 days ago I guess it would not be that bad. We can donate eggs for a reason right ? There are women out there who can't conceive or carry, you can give them a child they might not have had otherwise. Now, the economy is horrible right now so is there a demand for eggs ? I don't know that it would "bother" me that I have kid running around because I don't believe it would be "my kid" so to speak. I believe the woman carrying the child and brining him/her up would be mom. I would just happen to be a donor. I come from a large family and have 6 half brothers & sisters and LOVE them. I too, like Bekah would like to know where you got info from.

Posted 22 days ago There are a lot of postings on craigslist as well as in magazines and newspapers. I don't remember the company I was dealing with but there are plenty of them if you do a search for the state you live in.

Posted 11 days ago I actually have started the process of becoming an egg donor. I am in a committed relationship and my BF can not have anymore children. I have read all about the pros and cons to this. I feel this falls along the same lines a men donating sperm. If you can help someone have a child that can not on their own then why not. Then compensation is nice I must admit but it takes along time before you get it. Not just anyone can become an egg donor, there are several tests you must complete ,have a psych exam done, and cannot be over the age limit.( most places wont let you donate if you are older than 35) Once you pass the initial exams and tests then you have to wait until a recipient picks you, then there is another long process you must go through. Therfore you have to be patient and comitted to the process if you are going to do it. There is a great place called A.R.M.S that you can contact for more information on the subject.
