Posted 4 months ago With the newest Harry Potter film coming out in just a couple days, and with Twilight's second movie finished filming (they're already working on the third!), let's hear it ... which series do you like better? And what about the book-to-movie renditions? Is one series portrayed in film better than the other series? Let's hear it! Editor | Excelle

Posted 4 months ago I personally have not checked out the Twilight series. I personally prefer Magic over Vampires any day. I have read all of the Harry Potter books at least twice and watched all the movies. This past weekend they had a Harry Potter marathon on cable and I had the movies playing while I was cleaning house, working on the computer, etc. I'm looking forward to "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and I believe I may be going to see it on opening day with some friends. I'll write a review of the movie after I've seen it. As far as book-to-movie renditions, I feel the Harry Potter movies have been really good and have stayed true to the stories as much as possible. Of course, the movie makers take some liberties to make the movies have mass appeal, but they are basically very well done. I have not watched "Merlin" yet, but I believe I'll check it out. I love all the King Arthur stories and one of my favorite characters is Merlin, so I'm sure I'll appreciate this show. classicheidi

Posted 4 months ago I've read both the series of books. Harry Potter is by far my favorite. So much more enthralling. I enjoy twilight, but nowhere near the same level.

Posted 4 months ago I'll admit, I'm a Twilight fan! Harry Potter was good, though, but the romantic tension in Twilight really gets me!

Posted 3 months ago Harry Potter has a wider audience base- adults, tween and teen girls and boys. The Twilight series audience is basically adult women and teen girls. I feel the story line of the Twilight series is not appropriate for those younger than 14-15, but I do not feel that is the case with the HP series. I know 9 and 10 year olds that have read the HP series multiple times. As for the books being translated into movies- there really isn't much to compare here. There have been 6 HP movies, and we have just seen the first of the Twilight movies. I do feel that the HP movies should have been expanded into an HBO/Showtime mini-series after book 4. I thought the story-line had to be condensed too much to fit within a 2 hr movie and much was left out. The same with Twilight. There was so much more going on in the book that was left out of the movie. They almost need a mini-movie to fit between Twilight and New Moon. I don't think that the movies need to follow the books, word for word or scene for scene, but they are cutting out much of the story to fit it into a 2 hr movie.

Posted about 1 month ago I like both. I have not read the Harry Potter books though, just see the movies. I love vampire books and movie so when I started reading the twlight series I was hooked!! i read all 4 books in little over a month. It would have taken less time if I did not have to get them from the public library. I was disappointed in the character selection for the movies though. The girl for bella was good, but all the vampires were totally wrong. Vampires are supposed to be beautiful, those people were not, they looked sooooooo fake. They could have taken some tips from the people who did the casting for queen of the damned and interview with the vampire, those we a little more believable. I will watch new moon just to check it out.
