Posted 2 months ago She's the "real woman" we can't seem to stop talking about. The unphotoshopped, not anorexic, gorgeous, REAL woman photographed on page 194 of Glamour magazine's September issue. They used the image for a story on feeling comfortable in your own skin. What do you think of the picture? Can a photo make you feel better or worse about your own looks?

Posted 2 months ago If she is "fat" then I am a whale. What a pretty woman! Heck, I wish I were that tall!

Posted 2 months ago I can't believe that this woman is considered plus sized. While it is a step in the right direction in showing more "real women"- she is by no means plus sized. Can we please see more real women in magazines- and not just in articles talking about how "brave" they are- just as part of regular photo shoots and fashion layouts

Posted 2 months ago The pretty model does not appear to be plus sized. As women, we need to feel comfortable in our own bodies and accept that we are all beautiful in our own uniqueness. The media has done such a disservice to the female gender; we are not one size fits all. The aim of television and print media is to sell the suggestion of perfection through sexy and alluring ads. We all have flaws, but they should not be the center of our self-image.

Posted 2 months ago Plus-sized is a fashion industry term that refers to anyone over the sample size (which is usually 2, but can be up to 6). Plus-sized in stores can mean anything from 12-up. It's all a huge load of crap, because sizing is so based on how that line of clothing cuts instead of health factors. We should stop caring about the sizes of models and focus on health and how we FEEL.

Posted 2 months ago Although this woman has a little gut - she is by no means plus sized, based on the picture only. To answer your question about whether or not a picture can make us feel better or worse about our personal looks, I believe that they can. I know they affect me. They can either encourage us or depress us. We either like them or we don't. Does it mean that we don't feel good in our own skins - maybe for some of us. For others, we know who we are and are happy with ourselves no matter what the picture portrays..

Posted 2 months ago While she is a beautiful woman, I would not consider her a plus size woman. I think the new advertising for "Dove" shows more plus size women. I struggle with my body image alot. My husband says he loves me the way I am, but I still struggle. I come from big stock. "Big" not fat. After giving birth and tending to everyone else, I forgot about me. We are born into our thoughts and it is up to us to change the way we think. We tend to forget that we are people too at times and we give into public perception on how we should look. It shluld not be about "how" you look. It should be about how you feel and if you are healthy. There are things I need to change and I am currently working on those. But, as long as I am healthy and happy then thats all that matters.

Posted 2 months ago What do you think of the picture? Can a photo make you feel better or worse about your own looks? To be sincere to ourself this woman, she's beautiful from her head to her toe. Can a photo make me feel better of worse about my own looks, ohhhhhhhhhhhhh that's where am going, how can a photo make me feel bad or worse when i know that the glory and the beauty of God is on me, whether am Black, White, chocolate etc i am also beautiful like this woman, maybe there are some spot or rashes in my body it doesn't change my beauty, you see the way you think about yourself matters a lot, don't look down on yourself, (oh oh this woman is beautiful and am not) who told you you're not beautiful, are you blaming God or what. All what you need to do, is to take proper care of yourself especially your body, some women have lost their husband because of this, after given birth to 3 or 4 children they now look older than their age, so because of this their husband go out to chase after another woman/lady. You've got to take care of yourself even you've given birth to 6 of 8 children, you can still look as younger as you want to look. the most important things is don't allow anybody to take away your JOY, PEACE and HAPPINESS make sure you smile always. Look at how this woman is smilling, so do the same thing, make yourself happy at all times. Thank you.

| Posted 2 months ago I love this pic! Plus Size! No Way!! I think that a photo helps see yourself in a different way, not like in the mirror! I would encourage everyone to take a photo of themselves (not necessarily naked) and post it and see the kind of the reaction you get! I always think I look horrible in pics, but I post them anyways on Facebook and here, and I get tons of compliments that I had never expected - that in itself can boost your confidence and esteem. As far as the plus size thing - I hate this labeling and the segregation in stores - I want to shop next to ladies who are looking for a size 4 or a 24 - separating these departments in stores is only making the body image issue worse, for everybody!! | Posted about 1 month ago I think she deserve's a standing ovation. Plus size . . . . .how about normal size. Funny how anything over a size 4 is "plus size". So she has a little tummy, my guess is from a C-section. And OMG she has thighs . . . .lady's & gentleman the world is going to end ! hahahaha. I think pictures do make us look at ourselves but should not make you want to be anorexic. I don't think you should be allowed to model at 5ft 9 in and 90 lbs. . . .really ??? I love the Dove campaign because it shows real women not the doped up, food starved one's generally walking down the runway. I too am plus sized, funny to type that out, I am size 12 and proud of it ! And I'm sure if you take a poll and ask men they would prefer the size 12 to size 2! |
