My age is keeping away from interviews

Posted 2 months ago In most application forms the birthdate is required. I am 66 years old, healthy, fit, full of energy, attractive and I look 52-53 years old. I have a good resume, I speak three languages, I am well traveled and not set in my ways, but no interviews. What should I do? Lie about my age to get my foot into a human resources executive's office to be rejected for laying about my age?

| Posted about 1 month ago If you are well traveled and have made connections in the countries you have visited that is a hugh plus in a global economy. If you can speak three languages and effectively manage, there is a high demandfor your abilities. With the experience of your years there must be something in your career that you bring to a company that someone else can not. What is it? How can you add value to the company you are submitting your resume to? What problem is this company having that you can help them solve? Presenting yourself as healthy, fit, full of energy and attractive leads a prospective employer to think about a younger candidate. You don't want to do that and these are not things employers are looking for necessarily. They want to know how you can help them remain competitive. Look at your experiences to identify how you can add value. Are you willing to take on short term projects to get your foot in the door.If you can communicate in other language look for opportunities in global initiatives. Don't focus on the birth date, focus on what makes you unique. |

| Posted about 1 month ago I have the opposite problem sometimes. I look much younger than I am. I am 30 years old and even with hair done & dressed up I usually look 21 or under. I know this is a challenge because I don't want them to instantly think young & unexperienced. So I definitley make sure to wow them with my great abilities and let them know there is a reason they picked my resume and it wasn't looks ! |
