‘It Takes Two’ - W2 and 1099
Creating a Safety Net in Today’s Job Market
If you don’t have a 1099 to go with your W2, then time is of the essence. Will our generation, or the next, ever experience job security again?
Greed, corruption, automation, advancing computer technology, rising healthcare cost, recession, outsourcing, overseas product dominance, acquisitions and mergers, the demise of major corporations, and a nearly ten trillion dollar deficit make job security a rapidly fading reality.
The income from most jobs is devoured by insurance, healthcare, food, bills, cutbacks, school, taxes, rent or mortgage, car payments, credit card debt, and so on. At the end of it all, what is the one essential thing that is lost?
The answer is - LIFESTYLE. There is nothing left to nurture a healthy lifestyle. If there is nothing left, how fragile is your existence? It’s a small wonder that the average person has less than $300 dollars in their checking or savings account.
And yet, this is how we live our lives. We have become so financially desensitized, so economically numb, that we no longer have the ability to recognize the urgency or the advantages of supplementing our paychecks.
If you are literally living paycheck to paycheck, this is a major problem, a dangerous situation; and it must be realized and responded to as soon as possible.
So much is riding on one’s capacity to raise their level of awareness. So much is at stake. The average American cannot afford even the slightest thing to go wrong. The car cannot break down. The plumbing cannot burst. The dog cannot bite the neighbor. The kids cannot need emergency medical attention. And no one can survive a sudden job loss.
W2 dependency has fallen victim to the changing times. The W2 that was the majority of America’s Plan A needs a safety net - a Plan B. One of the best candidates for Plan B is 1099 income.
Independent contractor, commissions, increased tax deductions, providing a product or service through some self-employment opportunity; these are the keys to a healthier outcome.
Look, examine, and choose a 1099 opportunity. There are many types. Which one is best for you? How much extra income do you need each month to resurrect your lifestyle? How much extra income would you need to make in order to be out of the financial ‘red zone?’
If you’re ready to accept the new reality, that ‘it takes two,’ then you have just given yourself a an excellent fighting chance at regaining your well-deserved lifestyle.
“He or she who risks nothing, risks everything.” To do nothing is to risk everything. I hope that those of us who need to do something will awaken . . . and ‘do something.’ |
