You ever feel like your office equipment wants the day off? Like it would call in sick if it could?

Today it's my stapler. I have changed the staple supply but it has been jamming all morning long. Its an old dinosaur, and that's why I like it. It's metal and has some weight to it- not some light, brightly colored, flashy plastic model.  It's even an olive greenish color. It normally does its job all day long, without problems. Except for today. Maybe it just needs a long lunch break- I am giving it quite the workout today. We all have our "off" days and today is my staplers turn. Or perhaps if I give it a pep talk so it knows how needed it is for me to do my job. Stapler, oh stapler...

Change its diet - it has too much glue on the staples.  My blessed stapler frequently had that problem of constipation too.  That's when research showed that some sticks of staples have way too much glue on them for the normal diet to handle.  It seems the 1st staple goes fine but then we would have jams.  I found that opening the stapler after each staple got me through that stick of over glues staples.

Please ladies, do not tell me these things do not think! Sometimes you know that piece of office equipment is out to get you. I worked at a company where all documents were shredded when their use expired to be used for packing material. I literally broke two of these shredding machines.  What was I doing? Nothing in particular.  I fed the sheets through two at a time (it could take up to five), there were no staples or paperclips attached to any papers, whenever the trash bin became full, I emptied it, etc.) Still, these dog-goned machines just had it in for me.

Finally, the shredded was declared off limits for me and I left documents to be shredded at the shredder for someone else, or if they were confidential in nature I handed them to my supervisor to shred.  What a situation!
