My side of the table: how to evaluate prospective employer at the interview?

Posted about 1 month ago All until the last week I was considering starting my own business full-time. While I was drafting the business plan and exploring start-up financing options I got a lucrative job offer - a senior marketing position in a translation/localization company. I have a very strong translation/interpreting background, know the industry well, and have quite a few ideas of how to proceed with that new position should I get it, so I accepted the invitation to an interview. However, while I was successfully "selling" ideas and academic research proposals it's been several years since my last for-profit marketing job (in a remotely related field). Also, it's been quite a while since I changed jobs, and some of my job landing skills wore off. What would you suggest for me to ask at the interview in order to get a clearer idea of the company, the job and its relevance to my professional interest and skills and prospects of succeeding there? What would be a good and safe idea of probing the company's ethics? It's just that too many people around seem to run into "too-good-to-be-true" situations at their new jobs - and burn out. Thank you! |
