Would you rather be ugly or stupid?

Posted over 5 years ago I know there is a politically correct answer to this question - but I really want to know: If given a choice, would you rather be ugly and smart, or beautiful and dumb? |

Posted over 5 years ago Does this really have to be so - black and white? There are shades of gray too - Beautiful and smart and ugly and dumb. While Ugly and beautiful are two ends of spectrum - a huge range at that - remember - beauty lies in the eyes of a beholder. So - my choice would be neither but to be just smart and carry myself well.

Posted over 5 years ago well it's not so black and white, but imagine if you could only be one.. society makes a compelling case for each.. wondering who buys what..

Posted over 5 years ago I'd rather be pretty because then I would be dumb and not know that I was stupid and just live in ignorance.

Posted over 5 years ago Only because I have heard that ignorance = bliss. Granted, I now feel like a superficial biatch.

Posted over 5 years ago I dunno, I know a lot of people who have lost quite a few brain cells over the years. Just FYI, ladies, I am partially kidding on my comment that being prettier is better.

Posted over 5 years ago ImBossay, I see your angle. And I hope none of us here are going to judge just because you chose the non-smart option. The way I see it, you're quite right. If you were beautiful, you'd get your way with a lot of things and being dumb you wouldn't know better so you could be very happy too. I liked your angle on it.

Posted about 5 years ago i would rather be ugly because, beauty is something that can be within. Afterall you can be smart and have everything and the beauty usually goes along in your confidence, i have met many superficial beauties but could not stand to be around them because they are so dumb.........

Posted about 5 years ago I guess I am amazed at the question. I think if any of us had a choice of what we were going to look like or how our brains were going to function, we would all decide to be beautiful and smart. Since we do not have the option to select what we look like, and in some instances cannot control how our brains function, I would want to be the person who does not care what one looks like and be willing to teach and/or help one who might not comprehend quickly!

Posted about 5 years ago Ugly or not ugly is purely a personalized opinion about someone so it is subjective ......one can never generalize on someone being ugly.So I if I had to choose between ugly or stupid then I'd rather be ugly for some as I am sure there would be some who would think of me as not ugly. Also a lot depends on who thinks of you as ugly/stupid...if it is coming from people who dont know you well enough then why should you care? And those who know you well would never term you as ugly. Re-enlightenment is in the realization of the fact that we have only the present moment to live.

Posted about 5 years ago LET ME BE UUUUUGGGGGGGGGLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! I have thought about this- I heard it on the news before-- yeah, ignorance can be bliss- but ignorance is what is bringing the human race down. Also - - I would rather be ugly and quarkey -- when you are pretty you always have to have a stick up your ass because you have to keep that image alive in yourself and others -- Ugly girls have more time to think of other things than how their butts look (ha! I really don't care how I look 97% of the time- and I have to tell ya- it gives me more freedom to do what I want to do-- who cares if I make an ass of myself- I am not the pretty girl who has to keep up her image) Inteligence has always been more attractive-- people fall in love with those they can talk to - the more interesting overall is the woman who can carry a conversation and not one who can carry her DD's higher than 3ft off the ground. I enjoy my brain- and I would love to keep it

Posted about 5 years ago I think this is the funniest list of responses I've read on this website too, "KatS." I love "ImBossay's" comments! I agree with "awinhold," however. Be smart. Earn a lot of money and buy beauty. Although all the surgeries would really hurt....:o( As someone once said, "There are no ugly billionaires." And as for "pretty fad(ing)," maybe it was all those years I spent working in the Gerontology Center during college but I have seen some VERY BEAUTIFUL elderly (like 80+) people. I find it curious that some readers are unable to get past the fact that this is a "fantasy" question--a mental exercise intended to provoke thought and stimulate discussion. We all know we cannot choose one or the other. And no one is saying that, in the real world, we cannot have both. We know that. This is PLAYFUL. This is an exercise in IMAGINATION. Both qualities valuable in any human being, young or old, male or female, pretty or ugly. If I asked, "What would you do if you won the HUGE prize in the SuperLotto?" Would you say, "It's a waste of time to consider that because a person cannot CHOOSE to win the big prize."

Posted about 5 years ago This is too funny and it does solidify a recent observation I had about how my clients react to me: I am a young(ish) petite blonde woman who sells IT solutions to D and C Level executives, primarily men are in this industry and at this level especially. I thought maybe I was just imagining things when I would hold meetings without my glasses on and my clients would be silly, flirtacious and speak slightly down to me. When I wore my glasses, they were much more reserved, asked questions carefully and tended to pose the conversation so as to validate my technical prowess. When I noticed this I started either wearing or not wearing my glasses on purpose to see what the reaction was. My initial observation was correct. On the other hand, when I met with female clients when I wore my glasses they seemed to warm up to me faster than when I didn't . Seems as though an attractive female sales rep to another female can be "off putting". Why does it work that way? I have no idea but it seems to prove itself true every time I try my glasses experiment. So, what is the moral of the story? Be ugly and make more money!

Posted about 5 years ago All I can say is, look at Donald Trump. Hmm, not attractive. Bill Gates? Again, not attractive. Do you think they care? Hell no ladies, they are rich as hell!! All you have to think of is what you want to accomplish, everyone has their own opinion of beauty. Make yourself happy by doing the best you can and succeeding as far as you can go. I am just so proud to see so many women on this website working hard and getting ahead, I know its not easy. But who says being pretty will get you further? I got hired based on my looks, not my talent. And you know what? When a corporation took over our company, It didnt matter that they liked my looks, It didnt matter that I was excellent at my job, it just mattered what they wanted plain and simple. And simple was, having a degree. Hence, smarter is better ladies. (moral to this story is, they replaced me with a much older woman with a higher degree than myself after 5 years of service).....

| Posted about 5 years ago AHAHAHAHA!!! I have read some of the other responses, o.m.goodness, the remark about Donald Trump hillarious! People are so funny! But I truly do believe that beauty is only skin deep, and it is also in the eye of the beholder. I don't care one bit if people think that I'm ugly, nor do I care if men flirt with me or not. Having a man in my life has been more of a problem than a good thing. And besides the only man that I am interested in right now is JESUS CHRIST and he thinks I'm blessed and highly favored, and for me, that's what counts !!! FOR REAL DOUGH ! In proverbs chapter four the bible says that wisdom is the pdrinciple thing, so get wisdom and with all your getting get understanding too. The bible also says that descretion is the better part of valour, because out of the abundance of the heart does the mouth speak. After all the foolish things of God do confound the wise anyway. But if I had not other choice but to look at this situation from a carnally minded point of view, well then I'd rather be ugly from the worldy standpoint.
