Well here is my take on it.

I very much love children and I love people. I work with people all the time and I also work volonteer fields, IE: soup kitchens, with animal groups, teen runaway programs, women violence groups, men controllers , festivals , etc. I worked as a teacher on the Navajo Reservation and on the Teen Navajo Tribal Council.   So please before you judge me, do KNOW that I do love people and am around all kind.   Here is my take on this

This family has been on tv alot and demand attention. When they are NOT in the limelight , either on wifeswap, local tv programs, chasing lightning and storms, exposing their "bad boys horrible behaviour" etc.   and exploding in fits of anger and refusing to help one bit with any household duties to chase childish dreams , I have to wonder if he will go to any length to "plan" or "rig" a death gone wrong in his anger , ??

Im just not sure, but how could a little boy break loose a huge heavy baloon with no notice and just take off like that with out any one stopping him ?  It just isnt possible.   Then:  On top of that,  after chasing him around all over two counties, he isnt in there?  He never was i dont think and I told my friend upfront that little boy isnt in there, this is a ploy"  and she said your intuition is usually right...so we will see.  And i WAS right.

So what do you all think?? Curious!

After hearing the whole story - and then listening to the interview - this was all a hoax!

That is so sad that families would go to lengths as great as these to get attention!!!!!!

I think that the family and NOT the tax payers should ultimately be responsible for paying the costs of the "search" or wild goose chase.

Can't comment, have not heard the entire story. I think I simply bypassed this story when listening to the news the other day.

Grrrrrrr.  . . . . . .I received a call from my husband at work who heard about this story as it was breaking. So I turn on the news and immediately start praying that if the little boy fell, that they would find him and he would be injured but alive. I prayed for 10 minutes for his safety. Ugh . . . . .I should've prayed for brains for the parents ?? I understand that the kids may have been "unattended" or "out of their sight" for a moment or two (which we are all guilty of ) but it never turned out that my kids was flying away in a balloon.

Then the funny part ?!? The kid was hiding the whole time because he was afraid he would be in trouble ? Trouble ? oh that was the least of his worries. Then he wanted to be on T.V. If this was a hoax I believe that the parents should be made to pay for all the time the authorities, news , fire and rescue spent on this "adventure". It is a waste of tax payers money for stunts like this.

Oh - (sidebar). We have this law in Arizona, called the stupid law-seriously! If signs are posted that state "do not cross when flooded" or you pass barriers to cross a flooded area because you think your suv can. You get slapped with the bill for having to rescue you AND your car. Best law ever !
