I have never had alot of money to splurge on partys and holidays for my kids, so I hve had to iprovise and be very creative. Most of the time it pays off big time!!

Last year for my daughters school valentine party we made the v-day cards instead of buying them.  We used things we already had around the house. We spent $2.00 maybe for a bag of candy to go with the cards.  The kids in her class love them and my daughter was happy that she got to make them.

Another cost saving thing I have done is making cupcakess instead of a birthday cake.  You dont need the extra plates and utensils, less mess because you dont have to cut it up and and most of the time you an get cake mix on sale at your local supermarket for a $1.00. A few moms and the party were surprised at the idea and told me they were going to try it.

I have even made home made pinatas and found ways to take 12 kids ice skating for half the price.

I got a ton of ideas that the kids loe and save me lots of money. If you wan suggestions let me know.

Ok, ladies. Let's share our moving saving ideas for the holiday season.

I am doing cookie baskets and banana bread loaves (after I eat one or two )

I also like movie bundles. We have a Harkins Theatre here and if you buy a "souvenier" cup you can reuse it all year for a $1 ! So I buy this stuff it with some goodies, candies, movie theatre gift card. Not too pricy.

Movie baskets. The only expensive piece, maybe where you get your movies from. Buy a basket @ Michaels or heck the dollar stores have a good selection. Buy some selephane  to wrap it all in, again available at the dollar store. I add movies, some popcorn, boxes of candies (small movie size boxes, from Walmart), some soda's or juice boxes and wrap up. This is great for a gift to my 7 nieces. Much cheaper than 7 individual presents.

What great ideas do you have ?
