I was laid off my job at the end of September due to a FDIC take over.  This is the first time I have been unemployed and I am so frustrated with Unemployment and my job search.  Any one having the same issues?

Jfells- Have no fear you are one of many that is having this issue. I was laid off in June and am still hunting for a job with 100,000 other people. It is tough right now however, I know that there are bigger things out there for me. When I would interview people I would tell them it would take an "act of God" to get me to leave this job. . . . . . .uh well it did  . . .God acted and I left that job : ) I was upset I loved my job however, I believe there are bigger and better things out there for me !

Keep your head up and know that eventually it will turn around. I did not do the unemployment thing (too much work). And for the job search  . . . .I'm still searching but may do some seasonal work until I land something permanent.

Good Luck ! Keep us Posted !

Thanks for the support.  This is the first time I have been out of control of my own life.

Sheesh!  My impatience is telling!  I was only given my job reduction notice two weeks ago, and am frustrated as all get out!  I'm not even, technically, unemployed.  (although I wouldn't exactly say that what the company gets out of me is 'work' at the moment.  My work day consists of searching for jobs, calling my networking people, and essentially scaring the heck outta myself about what's going to happen if I don't find a job FAST! (Just did a massive bunch of home repairs that took a chunk of my savings, and a week later, I get the notice that they eliminated my position.  Oh, that was timing!)

I think 'fast' and 'new job' won't be together in my sentences any time soon, though.

I was let go from my job at the end of january and I am still hunting for a job. Since being let go I have had a handful of interviews all of them going well and then something on their end happens. Frustrated isn't the word I would use any more and it's not getting any easier. I tell myself everyday that someone is going to call but it seems like the pickings are getting thinner and there are even more people looking for a job.

Don't feel bad. There are MANY of us in the same boat. I was transferred from a branch I loved to another state to help with a takeover project. Once I got the company the contract, my new manager decided to let me go WITHOUT notice. Just ab out of the blue "do not come back Monday". That was back in January 2008. I have been to numerous interviews but I keep hearing "you're over qualified". I keep telling my interviewers that if I thought the job was beneath me I would NOT have applied. I managed to get a job working for a cruise line in their telecommunications center. I was also asked "not to return on Monday" just two weeks after I  started since the job was commission based.

I just keep on trying and hoping something eventually happens.

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL

The thing that is really fusterating is knowing your getting unemployment yet it is still not enough for your family to get by on, and trying to stay positive for the kids.

Has anyone here ever applied or thought about applying for a government job? I heard that there is some sort of test you need to pay for and fill out. I'm considering doing that.

Many and Prayers to us All... Unfortunately, I have been off work since Thanksgiving 08 and I am still seeking employment. I have been on several wonderful interviews to the point they had me interviewing with 3-4 people and then I never even receive a response to my follow up calls or emails.  I have lost my home, my vehicle and numerous of other things.  However, one thing I am not willing to lose is my mind... I know that God has something in store for me and I am on the search to finding it.... In the midst of it all I have been able to downsize and get an apartment and borrow a friends car to get my daughter back and forth to school... I refuse to allow this struggle to dictate who I am... I have always been a fighter, dedicated, motivated and strived to keep things afloat and I will continue to do so....  All I can say is stay prayerful everyone and learn to only focus on the positive.  I know it is easier said than done but just remember there is always someone out here worst off then we are...at least I can say I still have a roof over my head and food on my table... God is Good!!!

I am learning to continue to be thankful in the midst of all my frustration....

Be Blessed Everyone and know that Prosperity Awaits!

I am in a very similar position.  I live in Sacramento, CA and there just aren't enough job openings, but don't let that stop you.  You should continue to look and apply for jobs.  Learn about the company and the position simply be reading their websites as a way to learn about the businesses in your area and the latest skills requirements.  Continue to fine-tune your resume and coverletter.  And lastly, network even if it is online networking.   My time now is also focused on finishing school on-line at UOP and being the best parent ever.   Things will turn around, it will just take time.

There is a good article on the site entitled, "15 Companies Hiring Now".  Review the companies and the positions available to see if the companies have something to offer you and if you have something to offer them. As always.......

Blessings to you all,
