fem⋅i⋅nism from Dictionary.com

/ˈfɛməˌnɪzəm/
Show Spelled Pronunciation [fem-uh-niz-uhm] Show IPA

–noun

1.
the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men.

2.
(sometimes initial capital letter) an organized movement for the attainment of such rights for women.

3.
feminine character.

Origin:

1890–95; < F féminisme; see feminine, -ism

Is the Feminist movement dead or just dormant?  Have we as women gotten complacent that we have gone as far as we can go or should we continue to push to have women the same as men?

Funny, during WW2 women were in the factories and were taking the place of the men that used to be in that job, but due to the war, women had to step up!!  But all over you hear that women are not as strong as men and women can't  handle what men can handle.

Every day, women hunt for food, you have women that have fought their way to the top of the corporate ladder and women in charge - but are they truly recognized??  Are we as women treated the same??

I say no we are not - we are still pushed down.  Women are to be seen but not heard!  Malarkey!!!

C'mon ladies, what do you think?  I would love to hear your take on this subject.

I could go on a major rant about this subject!  We HAVE become somewhat more complacent, as opportunities are more prevalent, but still have a LONG way to go to legitimately state we are equal in many, many respects.  Women hold much more power than they realize; ask most men, and they will (if honest) attest the same.  Although we are working against generations of belief that we are the "fairer" sex, it is still out there - the brass ring we talk about, but seldom achieve.

I am hopeful that we, as women, will always keep in front of us the need to assert our opinions, our strengths, our genuine power, lest it be taken away.  THAT would be a travesty, and a tragedy, after our mothers have worked so hard to pave the way for us to take our foothold, and prosper in our own right.

I totally agree with you.  I am trying my best in the male domintated world that I work in to make my mark and prevail.  I am doing the best that I can to show the men that I work around that they are not the dominant ones over me nor can they do it better than me.....I can do anything I set my mind to do.
