As scary as it may be to have to think about it, let alone TYPE it... What are YOU afraid of? Creepy hugh? ... ~Most of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine.* |

| Posted almost 5 years ago Lizards!!!! or for that matter any form of reptiles, the mere thought of them gives me the creeps. I am totally scared of them.. Re-enlightenment is in the realization of the fact that we have only the present moment to live. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago I fantastically enjoy bugs, lizards, spiders (especially big ones), snakes, the moon and most of all, night time. And so it remains that my biggest fear is ‘fear of failure’. I don’t mind being wrong (I would rather be right) or having to work very hard to achieve, but failure leaves me craving for more. Ugh. |

| Posted almost 5 years ago The idea of being kidnapped, raped, tortured and murdered. There are times when I'm in the shower (home alone) and the slightest noise will cause me to get out of the shower and make sure the doors are locked (despite the fact that I may have checked them 10 times before getting in the shower)! I get so terrified that someday that horrible fear may come to pass. I hate roaches too but I don't know if I afraid of them per se'. Need Breeds Ingenuity!

| Posted almost 5 years ago I was baffled by a fear I had until I saw on Jeopardy that there's actually a name for it - megalaphobia (the fear of big things)! Then later my little sister told me she has it too. Although I fly regularly, I am afraid of looking out from an airport window and seeing an entire jet (especially those honkin' 747s) all within the frame of my vision. And although I wouldn't think twice about boarding one, I'm also scared to death of being just outside of a ship - the sight of it makes me shake inside. Finally, even though I'll swim in it, I'm afraid of the open ocean because of the size of the some the things that are in there! I believe I may have met my demise in a former life in a way somehow involving something BIG. |

Me too, that and heights. Husby works nights sometimes and for some dumb reason I like watching things like Ghost Hunters. I have also been stalked a few times so that is not helping my 'fear' at all, and the neighbor upstairs is down right CREEPY.... |

| Posted over 3 years ago I have 2 silly irrational fears- and I know they are silly and irrational so I usually keep them to myself. 1.) I live in MN. You may have heard that we get snow and ice in the winter. No matter how cold it is outside, I will never walk with my hands in my coat pockets because I have the fear that I will slip on the ice and break my front teeth. If my hands are free, I can use them to break my fall. I know that would be so so so painful. But its not just the pain and expense of the dental repair that I fear. If I broke my front teeth, I could never bite into a whole apple again- I would always have to cut it into slices. The apple thing is what I would miss. I know- completely random, and seemingly disconnected thoughts. 2.) The dishwasher in both the home I grew up and the home I am in now is directly below the cupboard where I have my plates and bowls. When I unload my dishwasher, I never have that cupboard door open. Instead of putting dishes directly from dishwasher to cupboard, I empty the dishes onto the counter first, shut the dishwasher door, then put them into the cupboard. I always think that if the cupboard door is open, and I am bending up and down, I will hit my forehead on the cupboard door and need to get stitches and then have a scar on my forehead. Its never happened to anyone I know, it is not the way my mother or sisters empty the dishwasher- infact, they will tease me when they see me doing it. I have no idea where this thought came from. And yes, I know, it is silly and irrational because honestly, what are the chances? |

| Posted about 3 years ago My biggest fear by far is fire. In 1977 I was in a house fire trapped on the second floor with my 2 year old daughter during the big blizzard. We were able to get to safety crawling out on the porch top. My daughter was not harmed and I had wrapped her in the bedspread and never let her feet touch the snow or ice. I had 3rd degree burns on my feet and ankles, frostbite and lost my two small toes on each foot, some major cuts from breaking out the windows with my bare hands, smoke inhalation. The action of my X-inlaws was so poor. They had room for their son to stay with them but no room for my daughter and I, so we stayed at the hospital. They got a hold of the red cross and was given a voucher for clothes. My ex-husband got a new wardrobe and I had a hospital gown. My parents came up two days later and took my daughter and I back home with them. It took them almost 9 hours to travel 70 miles and 11 more to get home. I wonder what happened to my x-family? |

| Posted about 3 years ago I have a family member who has a serious mental illness. Though she is now high-functioning while medicated; one slip up or one time she gets over stimulated, she may snap. (It has happened a few times already, so I'm not speaking hypothetically.) I think about it a few times a day - what if she snaps and she can't control her thoughts. She will do something to herself or her parents. There really is no cure for what she has - only medication and therapy. Also, the illness is hereditary - I also too may slowly establish the same illness. The thought of getting the illness doesn't scare me as much as what will happen to my relatives. |

| Posted about 3 years ago I never thought health issues would cause me fear, but one grandmother had alzheimers and because very violent. She would walk up to someone and just hit them. The thing that caused her going in a nursing home was one night she started lighting matches and caught a toss pillow to burst into flames the same night my daughter who was just an infant was sitting in her pumpkin seat(showing my age)and she grabbed her hand and broke two fingers.

| Posted about 3 years ago I've had the fear conversation many times and I'm always the odd one. I am the officially appointed spider/bug squisher, first aid administrator, and go-out-on-that-spindly-branch firster. I'm not afraid of heights (though I don't want to fall), and I don't mind the dark. I've failed plenty of times and still figured out a way to keep going. . .I'm just not afraid at the normal things. As I've gotten older I've determined that my most terrifying fear is being helpless: of having no hope or control over what is happening thus being unable to change a single thing and do nothing to help. Its what I hate the most as well, and the feeling of it twists my gut. I know I have trust issues, it takes a lot for me to trust someone with my everything. I think it has to do with my fear, considering that if someone knows everything about you they can use it against you. I'm just glad that I've been able to! I love my Scott :) |

| Posted about 3 years ago It's actually refreshing to see common fears. I think it's inherent to fear bugs, although I can deal with them after the initial shock. A year ago I would have said that I fear dying alone. But I now realize that no matter who is by our deathbed, we all have to face that on our own. I am still afraid of my ex-husband when he threatens me. |

| Posted almost 3 years ago I am afraid of all of those above, but what I am most of is not being successful in life. That means from relationships to business. |
Our fears come in all shapes and sizes. They are all different. Starting as a little girl I've always been afraid of The End Of The World & Demonds/Ghosts. I don't know if it's the unknown or my religious beliefs in Heaven & Hell, but whatever it is, It's possibly my strongest Fear. It can keep me up all night, and can keep me from living life, MY life, free of guilt. And I hate it, while I am still learning how to be rid of the curse.
